The Faculty Center   

The Faculty Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning supports faculty in creating engaging, research-based learning experiences through innovative teaching strategies and educational technologies. The Center offers personalized consultations, training, and workshops throughout each academic year to enhance teaching both in the classroom and online. Lewis University Faculty are encouraged register and participate in professional development events and training workshops.

    Are you new to Blackboard? Do you only teach face-to-face? Not sure where to start with getting some Blackboard training? Blackboard Essentials is a self-paced training course designed to provide instructors with guidance and skills needed to successfully leverage Blackboard at Lewis University. Learners will explore the basic functionality and tools needed to develop basic course content and manage their gradebook using Blackboard. This course is required for all new instructors teaching at Lewis University.

    Are you looking to enhance your Blackboard course? Not sure you are ready to commit to the Online Teaching Certification training? Blackboard Course Design is a self-paced training course designed to provide instructors with guidance on revising their course materials to better fit with the Lewis University course template. Learners will explore the basic functionality and tools needed to develop basic content, structure course content, and deliver their materials using Blackboard. This is also strongly recommended as a prerequisite for the Online Teaching Certification course that is required of all instructors teaching online.

    Target Audience: Faculty who have completed Blackboard Essentials looking to improve their course design.

    The Lewis University Online Teaching Certification training is designed to prepare faculty to teach online and blended courses using the Blackboard Learn Ultra experience. In this course participants will explore best practices and theory in online course design and develop a plan for online teaching. An emphasis will be placed on Student engagement, instructor to student engagement, and instructional design for online teaching. Upon successfully completing this certification, you will have the option to claim a micro-credential, University issued electronic Badge.

    Recommended Prerequisite: Previous completion of Blackboard Course Design BBOL-10200
