Develop the knowledge and skills you need to pass the Praxis Core Exam as you review and prepare for everything the test includes.

      An Overview of Praxis Core

For your first lesson, you will learn all about the Praxis Core exam. As you begin this course, you probably have lots of questions about the tests. For instance, how many tests make up the Praxis Core exam? Do you have to take all the tests at once, or can you take them separately? By the end of the lesson, the tests will no longer be a mystery to you and you will be ready to start preparing.

      The Reading Test

In this lesson, you will become familiar with the reading test of the Praxis Core exam. You will learn about the different types of reading questions you will come across, including useful strategies and examples of reading questions. Then you will have the opportunity to take a full-length practice reading test.

      Math Basics: Arithmetic and Decimals

Have you ever heard the phrase "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally" and wondered how it relates to math? This lesson will start preparing you for the math portion of the Praxis Core exam. You will learn what this phrase means in the math world, tips for using the calculator, and exponents, square roots, and decimals. By the end of the lesson, you will have a solid understanding of math basics.

      Math Basics: Fractions and Ratios

This lesson focuses on fractions and ratios. If you're someone who has a fear of fractions, after completing this lesson you will realize that fractions are indeed your friends. You will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals and fractions, as well as how to reduce and build up fractions.

      Conversions, Percentages, and Measurements

How much is 25% of 544? If an item that was originally priced at $175 dropped to a price of $105, what is the percentage of decrease? This lesson answers these questions as well as others involving percentages. You will also learn how to convert percentages into fractions and decimals, and vice versa.

      Algebra

Does the sight of the algebraic equation 3x - 5 + 7x = 9x - 2 scare you? If it does, by the end of this lesson it won't. You will discover everything you need to know about algebra to be successful on the math test. This includes what algebraic expressions are, how to combine like terms, and how to solve equations and inequalities.

      Geometry

Have you ever wondered how much fencing you will need for your backyard? To answer these questions, you have to know some geometry. In this lesson, you will get a crash course in geometry, where you will learn about area, perimeter, volume, lines, angles, shapes, congruence, similarity, and the infamous Pythagorean theorem.

      Statistics and Probability

Have you ever heard the terms mean, median, mode, and range? This lesson explores what these statistical terms mean and how to calculate them. After that, you will learn about the many types of graphs that you will come across on the test, including pie graphs, bar graphs, and pictographs.

      XY Graphs

In your final math lesson, you will learn how to make xy tables, plot points, and graph lines. You will discover how the slope of a line is just like driving a car. Also, you will learn how to do a geometric transformation, which sounds difficult but really isn't. At this point, you will be ready to try a full-length practice math test.

      Grammar Review

This lesson introduces the writing test of the Praxis Core exam. First, you will go back to the basics by reviewing parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation, and grammar rules. This grammar refresher will give you a good foundation for the writing test.

The Writing Test and Its Questions

Is it better to say, "PIN number" or "PIN"? In this lesson, you will also learn idiomatic expressions and commonly-confused words. Next, you will become familiar with the two types of questions that you will see on the multiple-choice portion of the writing test.

      The Essays

For the last lesson of the course, you will prepare for the essay portion of the writing test. You have two essays to prepare for—the argumentative essay and the source-based essay. You will see some sample essay prompts, learn how each essay is scored, and analyze examples of both good and bad essays. Finally, you will practice the process for writing two successful essays in the allotted amount of time.

Want to pass the GED® test? This course will help you develop the skills you will need to succeed.

What is the GED® Test All About?

How many subjects does the GED® test cover, and how much time do you get for each part of the test? Where do you go to take the test? Do you get to use a calculator? Will this class teach everything from four years of high school? In this lesson, you will learn the answers to all these questions and more.

Reasoning Through Language Arts: Focus on Reading

Reasoning Through Language Arts is the longest of the four GED® test modules, so you will spend three lessons on it. This lesson provides an overview of the RLA, and then focuses on your reading skills. You will start mapping out your strategy for mastering the reading passages of the RLA.

Reasoning Through Language Arts: Focus on Editing

This lesson continues preparation for the Reasoning Through Language Arts test module. You will explore the parts of speech, punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure. What you learn in this lesson will prepare you for the editing part of the RLA test module and help with your overall writing.

Reasoning Through Language Arts: Focus on Writing

It's time to use what you learned about reading strategies and grammar to create an extended response, which is a type of essay. The extended response has a high point value, so you will want to ace it.

Mathematical Reasoning: Focus on Math Terms and Algebra Basics

This first of three math lessons introduces you to the test content and the approved GED® calculator. More than half the math questions cover algebra topics, so you will jump right into the language of algebra. You will also review the concept of "order of operations," which tells you what order to solve multi-step problem in.

Mathematical Reasoning: Focus on Formulas and Dimensions

In this lesson, you'll apply algebra to formulas and geometry dimensions. You will use formulas for perimeter, area, volume, and surface area. These lessons work in real life as well as on the test: By the end of this lesson, you will know how to figure gas mileage, the cost per unit, and sale prices, and the area and perimeter a room.

Mathematical Reasoning: Combining Algebra and Geometry

In this lesson, you will bring your basic algebra skills to a higher level and combine them with geometry concepts. You will learn how to plot points, graph lines, and figure out the slope of lines on a coordinate grid. Then you will factor and solve a quadratic equation and learn how to use tables to solve word problems algebraically.

      Science: Energy and Related Systems

In your first science lesson, you will explore the theme of energy and related systems. Besides investigating the cosmos and learning physics laws, you will practice some math that relates to science. The science test also features two short-answer items, that you will prepare for in this lesson.

Science: Human Health and Living Systems

Have you ever wondered why people have different eye colors? Or, have you ever seen news reports about the effects of hurricanes, tornadoes, or earthquakes? If so, you're ready for this science lesson, which explores human health and living systems.

Social Studies: Modern Liberties and Democracy

Understanding your government is an important part of being a good citizen. As you prepare for the social studies test, you will learn about events that shaped the history and economy of the United States.

Social Studies: Dynamic Responses to Societal Systems

Explore the second social studies theme as you learn to analyze political cartoons, master the basics of economics, and learn more about 20th-century history.

      Testing and Beyond

You're almost done with this course! Use the checklists in this lesson to make sure you're ready for the GED® test. You will also find tips and techniques to make test day less stressful and learn about making plans for your future, whether that's college or another path.

Once complete, you will meet or exceed the educational prerequisites for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification offered through the Project Management Institute (PMI)®.

The materials in this CAPM certification course are aligned with the internationally recognized standards of project management and cover the domains in the CAPM Exam Content Outline. Each lesson in your CAPM training focuses exclusively on a single topic, so you can more easily grasp that topic before moving on to the next.

Note: PMP, Project Management Professional, Project Management Professional (PMP), PMBOK, PgMP, PMI-RMP, CAPM, PMI-SP, PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP), and the PMI REP Logo are registered marks of the Project Management Institute.
